Goodyear Eagle F1 for 850CSi?
Discussion
Discovered a lovely screw in one of my rear tyres this morning.
Can't be repaired as it's right on the shoulder, allegedly.
Anyway, my local trye fitter claims Goodyear don't make this trye any longer.
Also no sign of them on Blackcircles.
Any one know where I can find one?
Otherwise I'll need two new rears (the tyres are only a couple of thousand miles old)

That's a shame if those tyres are no longer available. They were a good tyre at an affordable price.
Mine is shod with Michelin Pilot Sport all-round. Very nice but very expensive at over £200 a pop for the rear corners. OR £660 for two...as a certain main-dealer in the SW-area of London charged the previous owner of mine just before he sold it!
As a side-note: I've just had mine re-mapped by Simon of E-Maps! Very nice man!
I was somewhat angst in the days preceeding this as he told me he also runs a full fault-code check. In my language "fault code" = "money leaving my bank account code"!
He said he's been doing this for 5 years and he's never done a car where no fault codes have come up. He has now! He was astonished...I was ecstatic!
First impressions? Well, I wasn't expecting huge gains...power up from 286 to 309 bhp and torque from 420 to 450 Nm was the projection on this engine. He and his colleague (who re-writes the software in Germany and then sends the map back via mobile phone an hour or so later)have done lots of these engines...five very recently apparently and principally in 540s. The first thing I actually noted ( I took it very easy to start off with) was improved fuel consumption at light cruising. I could get just under 29-ish mpg cruising at 70 mph previously now it can do 32 mpg.
When 'pressing on' the impression is that the delivery throughout the rev range seems smoother with increasing 'urgency' higher up the range all the way to the red-line.
With the adaptive gearbox in its normal drive setting I find it difficult to offer an objective assessment of how the car responds because I find it difficult to know which of its four modes it's in at a given time with changing road and traffic variables. However, in 'Sport' (which immediately selects the most 'sporty' of the four modes) the car feels sharper at high revs...I guess the thought that came to mind was "overtly aggressive".
I'm not going to confess to any specific speeds (and I haven't nor am I going to explore the fact that the top speed limiter has been removed!) but to be honest I was going past other road users SO easily that I actually felt a bit embarrassed and could imagine them saying: "Look at that knob-head!"
The combined anxieties that someone ahead who 'thought' they were going fast might not realise and pull out in front of me and what I term my "8 Series Fear Factor" conspired to rein me in. To be honest, I don't want anymore power out of this car...this is more than enough for me!
So, I'd give a big thumbs up to Simon and his german colleague! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Those Goodyears are proving tricky to source in 265/40ZR17 size. The F1's are excellent tyres that really suit the CSi. I have also found Continentals to be superb and considerably longer lasting than the Goodyears. They're possibly my second choice. Just never go anywhere near Avons. They were positively dangerous on the rear of the 850! I've also been impressed with Falken 451's. Hard wearing, responsive and excellent levels of grip in the wet and the dry for a very reasonable cost. I'd definitely buy another set. They also look good and are quiet too - a serious consideration with a fairly wide tyre like a 265.
The standard fitment on 850's was 16" with an upgrade available to 17" - standard on the CSi.
850's ride well on 18" - probably the optimum for the car - but the ride gets a little harsh and 'crashy' on 19's and can occasionally rub on the rear arch lip if you get silly with wide section tyres.

They must be a slightly different incarnation of the Goodyear F1's. If you look at the tread pattern it isnt the deep 'V' that we all know and love.
Maybe its the latest version - the F1 asymmetric - though I can't find a listing for the 265 size. If they are, they certainly get very good reviews.
