Hughsie, I sympathise with you. I witnessed an appalling piece of driving from a Boxster S driver the other day near High Wycombe Handy Cross roundabout. He overtook dangerously at Marlow Bottom, then got in the wrong lane at Handy Cross before cutting someone up after gaining what? About two car lengths? Absolute twat.

However, Boxsters - even Ss - are relatively common and it is unlikely the offender is here. If they are, they should recognise their reg number from the heading and contact you offline for a little chat. If you see a PH sticker on a car that's been driven badly, couch a simple 'spotted' post and then discuss the issue civilly (as possible) offline.

If they replied to your post here, it would simply be a flame war, which is no good for anyone on this forum. I doubt they would see the undoubted error of their ways

This forum isn't for axe-grinding, but I think it is a good opportunity to point out that we should all drive as courteously as possible - not least because we can give Porsche drivers a bad name.

Cheers
Domster

PS. The Boxter S that I saw being driven badly was also a dark metallic grey (not as common as silver) and the driver was a late thirties/early forties bloke. Wonder if they are one and the same? Similar area.

LOL, hope you manage to 'sort things out' off line.

Being binned is an exclusive privilege

I have every sympathy with the anger shown in the original post - there are idiots driving every marque, but occasionally something worse than normal really gets to you. I am interested in what response you got from the Police, as I had a similarly bad incident recently. In that case I was driving my Caterham in a brisk, but reasonable manner when an idiot in a silver fixed head Audi TT, overtaking a line of traffic, took exception to my being on my own side of the road. This imbecile prolonged his overtake and drove at me head on, literally trying to force me off the road. Fortunately the 7 is narrow and i survived with two wheels on the verge. Unfortunately I didn't get a reg, but did subsequently wonder what the reaction would have been had I done so and reported the incident. Any views?

The police were pretty godd actually, once i got through the pen pushers and spoke to somebody in the control room they took the matter fairly seriously, the outcome remains to be seen, but i felt like i was listened to and that something was actually going to be done about it...

1) they said they would keep an eye out for him
2) Beacuse of the seriousness of the incident they would probably be sending someone round to have a caht to him if they hadnt caught up with him in the meantime...

All in all well done

I had a similar incident in my Seven. A car pulled out on an overtake almost straight into me - I realised this may have been because of a Caterham's smaller and more peculiar frontal profile - ie he really hadn't seen me. I always drive with my lights on after that (during day).

Not saying this is what happened to you, just that people can act oddly to Caterhams as they are so low, fast and small. I used to really keep an eye out for other people, especially as a crash could be such bad news.

Been there done that :-)
I generally do exactly as you do and travel a la Volvo with dipped beam at all times, after an "invisibility" incident with a 7.5 ton truck a couple of years ago. I do sometimes wonder though if this winds people up and makes you appear an impatient boy racer.

However this guy had seen me in good time and the action he took was undoubtedly both deliberate and malicious. Considering how dangerous it was, I was surprised that I wasn't more scared by the incident. I did consider turning round to confront him, but surmised that I didn't really want to meet such a complete nutter face to face.
