How do I find out the history of my '95 4.0 Chim? Does anybody know of M426 MDA or TVR 246 or PRC 419 (six previous owners)? I've the HPI check but I want to know more about the service history and confirmation of milage. I bought it back in May with only 13k miles, no service history, MOT going back to April '06, cat D insurance loss. Iv'e had a 12k service and the technicians said they have no reason to dispute the milage and that the damage was a rear end shunt - bodywork damage, chassis ok.

You can write to the DVLA and they will give you a list of the owners. I think it cost about £15. go to their website for more details. You can then write to the owners asking for information and hope they respond. Good luck.

If it had been TVR dealer serviced, if the dealers had sent their part of of the service page off each time and if TVR were still in business you could ask TVR for copies of the service records...however...given that is now not possible, your best bet is write to the DVLA as suggested, then write to each previous owner enclosing an SAE (and maybe your phone number) and ask for details of the servicing garages, any old receipts etc. Then write to each of the garages and so on.
It's surpising what such detective work turns up, but I have to say I'll be surprised if the servicing garages (if you get that far) bother to reply.
