Broken boot hinge...help!

Was to take the Chim on a 5 day tour of northern France but the day before we were due to depart I opened the boot to change the CD choices to suit 'er indoors's taste (!) and one of the boot hinges snapped! Jesus! I had to take the A-Class Merc and had a major happiness let-down (as you can imagine). Missed out on some serious tunnel action and driving into the Euro tunnel train was to be the piece de resistance, n'est pas?! 
Does anyone have any idea as to where to source one of these things and whether it is an easy fix? I can't find any comment on this item in't Bible.
Also, the clear cover (diffuser?) for the rear number plate light has been installed in pieces prior to my ownership and is now falling apart. Anyone know the correct one to buy? I presume it will be an off the shelf item in any good motor factors.
The car is a 1997 450 on an R plate.
