I have a 1999 4.5 Cerbera with a fully "TVR" stamped service book. I paid £14,500 and the car is fine. Will it rise in value?...No. Will it fall in value?...YES. But is it really worth going out of the way and to pay a premium to continue having the service book stamped by a TVR service agent (if there indeed are any other than TVR Power)?

What do we do as responsible TVR owners?

I would like to keep mine in the best condition that I can possibly afford. But when it comes to it, what does that "stamp" really mean?

We all would like a fully stamped service book, but is it worth it?

Do you necessarily recieve the best service?

Is it worth the extra money?

Is it extra money?

Mine is due a so called "big service" @ 35,000 miles (or thereabouts). Whats involved? Could a good independent really deal with the intrecacies of the 4.5 V8?

When it comes down to it what is that dealer stamp really worth when your car is only worth 10k - 15k???

I'd rather see a good independants stamp anyday of the week.

For the big service I'd recommend Automedon. They're at Blackpool, but worth it in both the level of service and price.

(By the way, the lads there are from the original Cerbera build team so they know about as much as anybody about the car)!

Whats involved in this big service?
Valves re-ground etc etc
Does anyone know where there is a detailed service checklist for the 4.5 AJP?

Check Byker28i's profile - Dave has loads of useful stuff, including the service schedules.

I don't suppose this price of £567 includes re-shimming if required? Approximately how often does the AJP 4.5 need re-shimming?

It looks like the majority of TVR owners do not place much value on keeping a TVR stamped service book then?

It makes sense to take your car where you believe it gets the best attention and has the most knowledgeable and experienced person work on it.

My experiences with TVR main dealers suggests they've let their apprentices loose on my car.

If I was buying a Cerbera I would much rather see Automedons or Trackcars, (ex Joospeed), stamps in the service book.

All imho of course...

nonoThats quite a cutting statement for your first post! Maybe instead of hiding behind your keyboard, you might like to give Automedon a call (Ask the bill payers permission first flower) and explain what you mean. Maybe your on the wrong forum or maybe your full of shit! Cant wait to hear from you Baz

Am currently having probs downloading the service schedule, but my recolection of this is that it was for the 4.2, but I will try again later.

Does anyone have a service schedule for the 4.5 AJP?

Torque RVT's website gives a good list of servicing schedules

http://www.torquervt.co.uk/serviceschedule.html

Good service there too !

I'm not 100% but I'm not sure there are specific service schedules for the AJP 4.5 compared to say the 4.2 etc - but I'd be prepared to be wrong !!
