Don't mess with a Skyline !
Discussion
I have just had my 350i rolling road tuned, the chaps at the tuners were very complimentary about the car and condition (all that polishing pays dividends !). Anyway on the way home (revelling in all the new found power) I stopped at some lights at George IV (dual carriageway) in North Harrow, Middx. Alongside me was a Nissan Skyline GTR, I thought I was in for a close (ish) race (although I don't condone such reckless driving behaviour). The lights changed and by the time I had changed into 2nd, the Nissan was a clear 80-100 metres ahead of me, by the time I was hitting 50 mph he was seriously 200 metres plus ahead of me. I was amazed and (grudgingly) impressed. I caught up at a mini roundabout and the guy driving informed me he had 475 bhp under the bonnet. Question is this possible ? and is there an official 0-60 time for a GTR ? The good news is it sounded like a hair dryer on steroids ! Moral of the story, there is always someone with a faster car than you.

Keith is yours the Lovely Burgundy red with Cream interior, if so i've seen you around !!
I can outdrag a skyline (instandard form)as long as its not from a shandstill.
Raced one off a set of lights before and lose big time. after I had caught him up again, we approached the next set of lights.. at about 30mph. This time, TVR power delivery is definatly more ferocious.. by the third set of lights I was a good 20 yards infront. Then i ait his dust big style from another standing start. still.. nime sounded better !
I donot condone action like this, but it is bloody good fun!

A mate of mine runs a red R32 Skyline up at the 'pod every so often - he's dropping about 750hp and has been measured at sub 3.4 secs 0-60 (even sub 3.0 has been muted but not sure I would believe that).
Consistent standing quarters in 10.94 (to within a few hundredths of a sec).
Pics of the last outing can be seen at:

Unfortunately Ron got beaten by the guy who trashed his Evo on Top Gear trying to pull a caravan at >128mph ... of course I felt very sorry for him when I saw him trash his engine in a pointless stunt on TV. (NOT!)

Keith, shame about that Skyline but when it comes to looks and noise they loose every time.
Do you live in the area or were you just passing through? If your local you may have seen me around the Pinner area, I've got a Dark Blue Chimaera.
If your local you may also want to come along to the next Middx TVR club meet up at The Coy Carp in Harefield on July 2nd (about 8pm I think). Never been to one of the meets before but reckon it will be worth the trip out there.

Historically much heralded as 'The Guv' by many although latterly overlooked due to it's ubiquity.
Some of the above stats sound hugely impressive and from what I've experienced, certainly the 5-600 bhp Nismo guided conversions are a proper match for all but the most committed Macca F1 driver.
I would love to compare the breadth of abilities of one of these with the new uber Noble or X50 type 911s across both country blacktop and Brunter's longest Thorpe.
My bet is that the old dog would inflict some serious damage on just about any competing throng.
(Btw; re the 'sound' issue: it is possible for the beastie to conduct a decent orchestral movement with the appropriate horn selection...)
A quality vehicle.

Not matter which of my TVRs I'm in, if anyone wants a race at the lights I generally just wave them through - it doesn't half p**s them off and you have the moral high ground. At the end of the day, you KNOW that you have the better car and don't have to prove it!

This is true. Ralph you are 100% right.
But as everyday we move closer to a MadMax scenario on the roads.... its no longer a little old granny in the inside lane.. its competition.
