Changing a spoiler on an E46

Hi guys, want to change my boot spoiler to the boot lip type spoiler. Does anyone know what cost this would roughly involve ? Seen the boot lip spoiler on ebay, but guessing that my existing spoiler will be hard to get off and then perhaps would need to respray the boot?

Which spoiler have you got on atm?

I removed my lip spoiler - took about 30 mins of very careful cutting at the adhesive and about an hour of removing all the gunk that was left behind.

Its a classic spoiler design - one that slightly hangs over the boot, is slightly curved on the ends - it is about 15cms high at the mid-point as you look at the back of the car but slowly comes down towards the boot lids on the extremes.

I could post a pic if I knew how to !

PS If it helps its a 2001 coupe

Oh lol - I was actually changing my lip spoiler for something very similar looking. Didn't work out in the end though.

I think with your spoiler it will be screwed in. I'd imagine it's a case of removing the boot lid carpet and trim (shoudn't be too nasty a job), then unscrewing it. Only issue there is that you'd have to fill the holes and get it resprayed.

LOL, thanks very much. Its all down to preference but I'm not a fan of this current spoiler - makes the back end of the car look strange, almost too high - prefer the subtle boot lid spoiler. Just goes to show though doesn't it!!!

Thinking of upgrading my one for an M3 (03 plate) in the near future so will probably give it a miss if its gonna cost more than £50 !

Yeah, to be honest it's not really worth it - particularly when filler and respraying is involved. I think the high spoiler looks good, but glad now that I kept my lip one.
