just cleared the central area of christchurch and heading out eastwards on the a35 carriageway tonight a biker + passenger on a harley type bike came up behind and sat on my tail with his main beam on. i stick my hand over my rear view - an action that would be obvious to him as i had no roof on. as i pulled up behind 2 cars waiting at stony lane roundabout, his light was still glaring in my mirror so i turned round and asked if his main beam was on.... he replied yes.... i replied please turn it off - it's blinding me... before i finished, he pulled along side and out on to the roundabout and on up the dual carriage way. he didn't seem to realise the car i was in has stonking great fog lights as well as main beamers and had no difficulty keeping up with him (no other traffic for significant distance in front of course).

BIKES DO NOT NEED MAIN BEAM ON UNLESS IT'S DARK AND THERE'S NO-ONE INFRONT OF YOU! we can see a dipped headlight beam just as easily as you (tinted visor not considered!)

Nothing to do with bikes. Drivers/riders of all motor vehicles have a subset of tossers who have no perception of what they are doing or how it's affecting others.
