Last night - no power steering, battery discharge light on. That'll be the belt then...

Know it's not a big job but having just moved to the area I could do with finding a decent place for other stuff too... Any ideas?

What year is your car??

I had my power steering pump go recently due to a leak on my power steering rack and the belt required replacing as it was spliting in places.

Go out and buy a new belt and do it your self. I promise you it doesn't take long to do and it's very straightforward. The belt is less than £15 so get that from a Subaru stealership, at least you'll have the OEM one and job done.

If you get stuck or don't have a workshop manual send me an email and i will mail you back the relevant PDF pages. If you want the whole workshop manual and i have one for your year of manufacture i will mail you a link to my server and you can download the whole thing, including parts list, as a ZIPfile FOC.

Good luck thumbup

P.S. You might want to talk to Vixpy, he owns Surry Rolling Road, he knows some good guys near him in Surrey that will sort if for you if you don't want to do it yourself, and they aren't too far away from you. Should be a very quick job to do so while you wait i would hope. wink

shout Calling Vixpy!!!!

Not exactly close but there is a dealer just outside Basingstoke if that helps. I would have thought any garage would have been able to do it though.

Tuffer is absolutely correct, it's that easy a job any garage should be able to do it so your options are any garage you know in your area that you trust will do a good job and not cost the earth. Personally, i would do it myself, as i said it's a cinch to do.
