Hi all,

now, i dont really want to do a car wrecking, tyre wrecking, tyre walled, high speed drift day

but i saw this low grip circuit on the second half of this video on 5th gear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuz34lxePv0

does anyone know if there are any organised days you can play on this sort of thing, in your own car?

thanks

Most places at this time of year should be wet and greasy enough but you will get a dry line appear if it stops raining enough.

That is (or looks suspiciously like) the tarmac rally stage at Oulton Park.

Its a special low grip surface and they run introduction to drifting days on it, which sounds like exactly what you want. Did one earlier in the year and it was great fun, virtually no wear on car or tyres at all smile

Next one is November 17th - http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/oulton-park/trac...

There are 2 'loops', 3 cars on each at a time, with a good space between them smile

Basically you go out, do your lap and then join the queue to go out again, so there's no way someone can hog the track by just staying out forever. I found the queues were always pretty short and I certainly didn't feel short changed by the amount of time I spent actually driving.

Only slightly frustrating part was the very start of the day, you have to do 2 laps with an instructor before they'll let you loose on your own and that can mean a bit of a wait if you're not quick off the mark.

The instructors are excellent too btw, just grab hold of one whenever you feel like it and they'll jump in for a few laps and give you some tips. You can get them to drive your car to show you what it can really do if you like, which is quite eye opening!

sweet, if i share the costs between me and my bro for extra cheapness, we should still both get a decent bit of driving?

sounds great!
