Thermostat location

My car runs a 100deg water temp. I am sure that it has crept up slightly over the last few months and would like to check the thermostat is working correctly.
Trouble is, I don't know where it is. I could rummage around and I'm sure I'll find it eventually, but if someone could point me to it then it will save me some time.

I will run the car with it out to prove a point, but is this a bad thing to do or will the car just take longer to warm ?

I might be wrong but the gauge should read 90ish as a defult, this is programmed into the ecu, it only reads diferently if there is a problem.

If you take the thermostat out then all thay happens is teh car takes longer to warm up.

FYI, it is generally not a good idea to remove the thermostat from the cooling system. The thermostat provides a flow restriction and back pressure that are both needed to prevent cavitation at the water pump impeller. The cooling efficiency of the system can be compromised without that restriction.

Same 85 all the time.

No, I have spoken to some knowledgable chaps and will now not remove and run without. This is not advisable.
