P38 4.6 Advice
Discussion
Hi guys
Inspired by the Bargain Barges thread, I am now in the market for a 4.6 P38, as I think it will be the perfect foil to my Alfa 147 GTA (i.e. comfortable and relaxing to drive, with room in the back).
I won't be doing any off roading, although the roads in Edinburgh are pretty bad ; )
Asides from trim, is there any advantage to going for a later Vogue SE car over an earlier HSE?
Also, please can you point me in the direction of a buyer's guide.
I have driven a 2.5 DSE in the past, but it was a little sluggish for my tastes. I won't be driving so many miles, so I won;t need an LPG conversion car.
Many cars seem to have done 100k plus miles - is this OK, or should I seek out a lower mileage example (which cost around the same).
Any help is much appreciated.

Important things to check are electricals.Make sure the HVAC (climate control)works, and it does,nt display any warning symbols.Check either side of the gearbox tunnel for dampness. This would indicate o-ring failure.Make sure the air suspension raises up and down correctly. If it does,nt,and stays in a nose down attitude or rear down attitude. Then this will point to leaking air bags or a worn compressor. Finally check the records for a replacement engine.A lot of RR suffered with porus blocks. If it has,nt then check for any water loss and rough running. If you find a nice one then you wont go far wrong. You cant beat the waftyness of a RR.Always go for the higest speced vehicle you can find.

Have a look on the landrover owners forum www.lro.com, loads of buying advice and other links.
I bought a 2002 4.6 Vogue (51 plate) in February this year, 51K on the clock, 61K now. Paid top money for the best I could find and it's been worth every penny.
They are very thirsty mind, 10-12 mpg around town, so mine had an LPG conversion as part of the sale.

www.rangerovers.net is THE web resource for the P38.
Holy cow, what a dogs breakfast of an index page. Sure advertising is requried to pay for hosting, but that is just a mess.TIP scroll right to the bottom, where it gets back to normal.
