Rocker cover gasket

Hi,

I'm painting my Rocker Covers so it only seems wise to change the gaskets at the same time. Can you tell me if the 2.8i ones will fit my S3 2.9? Are they the same for either side?

ps what paint can you recomend for doing the covers?

I think the 2.8's only have seven bolts and the 2.9 has eight. I read somewhere (TVRGIT ?) that they are the same shape, you just need to make the additional hole. ??

I used smooth Hammerite for the covers, but whatever paint you use needs to be heat resistant - Halfrauds sell a variety of these.

Go to the Ford main dealer for gaskets, they aren't expensive and the Ford/Motorcraft ones are better than most of the aftermarket ones.

Hammerite is fine for rocker covers.

If you are going to 'Fords' just get the right ones anyway.

I have never tried 2.8 gaskets - I was sure they are a different shape, definitely different number of holes.

I would echo the advice to buy Ford ones - many of the aftermarket ones are just cork, the Ford ones have tiny flat metal pins in the cork to prevent it being squashed down to much and bursting out of the join. For all they cost, I'd go Ford.
