does anybody else's leg get cold at motorway speeds? a lot of air seems to be coming through the door/body gap. Also there is a small tear in the carpet at the bottom of the door in the footwell - air seems to be coming out here too. anybody else had this issue? brrrrr.

Mine is the same. The seal at the front of the door is not, er, sealing.

Buy a thicker sock.

Same here. I just use it as a cooling process to temper the hot air flow.

The air comes in through the wing, it starts around the headlamp and idicator and comes down above the pedal box area, I have a Cerbera but the Chim is the same (I used to have one), what I have done is put a plastic bag in the front wing, (got access through panel in the inner wing) I then sprayed in some explanding foam, job done, no drafts at all, it has been like this now for 6 years and I have had no problems since, it can always be pulled out easy if you put a bag in there, otherwise it would be a bugger.

The air comes in through the gap in the carpet. IIRC if you remove the carpet you will find a hole in the body through which the air rushes. Pull back carpet, gaffer tape over the hole, replace carpet. Job done. Having said that mine does it and I havent got around to fixing it yet so this is all theory. But I know for sure that when travelling at speed that small gap in the carpet opens up and in comes the cold air brrrrr

Me too - but mine ONLY does it when there's a window open/roof off to suck the air through. bigdods' hole under the carpet is an interesting place to start. I'd previously put it down to the seal along the bottom edge of the door as clearly the air blows/is sucked UPWARDS, not blowing in from front to back. So really it's the side of your thigh that gets the chill wind - great in summer smile. Anyone elses' come in like that?

Nick.

Same as yours Nick, I consider it a bonus when its getting too warm and open a window - summer or winter!

Mine does it, and I was sure it was coming through the door seal (where it's crimped flat for a short section). However, having read the comments above, I think I'll have a look for holes under the carpet.

they must all do that...the holes at the bottom are for the two hinge bolts. I had the draft commng through there ages ago, pulled the carpet back, gaffer taped the hole and replaced the carpet. Made lots of difference.

But also I think that when the window is open even a bit, cold air comes in between the door card and the door shell. This makes a draught in the region of my upper thigh. In a "normal" car there is a plastic sheet sealing all the holes on the inside of the door shell. Obviously TVR did not believe in such extravagance and the result is the draught.
Anyone else noticed this / come up with a solution?
Also re the one in the pedal box area remove the cover in the engine bay that gives access to the clutch reservoir and you will find a hole in the bulkhead about 1" diameter, or at least I did. Covered it with Gaffer tape. Easy to do and nil cost.

Are you sure your not just feeling the effect of the permanent cold air feed to the driver (see your handbook), which can be turned down or closed? Sounds silly but worth checking before you start going nuts with expanding foam etc. I havent noticed a draught in mine (except when the cold air feed is on), its usually too hot even with it on.
