Being a big Nascar fan i have wanted to go and see the racing that the guys did before moving to nascar, a lot of them came from the dirt track , while watching nhra at vegas last week they advertised that on the saturday night they were running some midgets and sprint cars at the dirt track next door,wow i could at last see what this was like to watch in the flesh. MAd Mad Mad , 1400lbs and 800 horsepower , drifting round the 1/2 mile dirt track oval and smoking the tyres doing so. Most of these sprint cars run a 410ci small block and have no problem pulling one or both front wheels in the air down the straights under full power only then 2 seconds later going into a huge drift on the corner and power sliding with sprint cars all around them.No computers like nascar , all controlled by the driver lap after lap.If you ever get the chance even if you dont like oval racing go a long and see for yourself.The world of outlaw cars also run and some meetings think they have even more power.
