One of our local Radio Stations is starting to get interested in motorsport due to te impact Lewis Hamilton is having on the news. It isn't that often that a young sportsman has such a high profile and it may well produce an impact for the grass roots.

In a series of interviews my local club officials were asked about (a) youngsters in motorsport, (b) how to get started, (c) what events we run, (d) how people can join, (e) Why are there so few women racing drivers?, (f) will there ever be a female world champion in F1 and finally (g) how expensive is motorsport.

All this will be cut together along with interviews with drivers, mechanics and members of a Greenpower Team to be broadcast in the New Year.

It may be a good time for other clubs to use the Hamilton Affect to their advantage!

According to my Chambers Dictionary Affect means "have an effect on". Whilst effect is the "result of an action".

You pays your money and you takes you choice.

It should be effect, as it is the effect that Hamilton is having.

Although, logically, you make your choice prior to actually making payment. So, there's a syntax issue as well.

woah there, what's that spec in the distance...is it the original topic? No, can't be, we left that behind ages ago...

There's a difference between making a choice and taking [the object/action that is the result of] your choice...

Syntax - that must be the one that New Labour want to introduce taxing brothels!
