Folks

Is there any difference between the Canon 350D sold in the UK and the one badged up abroad as the "Rebel XT"? I'm after a more in depth book on using the 350D I bought over here. I don't want to waste money on a book if the functions described are not identical

Thanks in advance...

MK

I thought the Rebel XT was the same as the 400D ... although I may well be wrong.

The Canon 350D is the Rebel XT.

The Canon 400D is the Rebel XTi.

It's a matter of different name for different markets. Much like;

Walkers - Lays,
Links - Axe.

Ah - right. So essentially the same camera in terms of functionality then?

Yup +1.

Also, I was buying a midrange Canon DSLR and was weighing up the pros and cons of getting the 400D in Jessops or the XTi shipped from USA. Basically by the time you've paid postage and import VAT the saving is negligible. (PS, don't kid yourself that you won't be charged import VAT, becauase you will. It's about £80 on that camera.)

Would you not also have to put up with a USA plug and therefore UK adapter for it to charge. What's the warranty like, international?

'Rebel' is such a horrible name for a camera. I'd stick to xxxD. biggrin

Mind you, they are called 'Kiss' in Japan ('Kiss Digital X' for 400D), which is even worse!
