VXR MONARO OR VXR8
Discussion
I thought that the monaro had its fare share of problems and it seems that the vxr8 seems to be having a few major problems of there own. This is not very good for a new 35k plus car every thing should be spot on for this amount of cash. It would be good if main dealers could offer some sort of allowance for the cost of days off work and fuel back and fore to sort these matters out. I personally have traveled nearly 1,000 miles to have one job done and what do i do go and by another new monaro and had a few problems with this new one and only done 2500 miles. Any one out there who wants to make a list unity is strength. My rant is over now ps i feel peed of when i read vxr8 problems.

go buy a tvr and you will realise how problem free it iswhat problems do you have on the new one - might be why the last guy sold it
I had 3 and had a replacement gearbox and brake disks on one, but it was handles with incredible courtesy and politeness

I can tell you that a year of Citroen C1 ownership has brought me... nothing but trouble-free driving. The Monaro? - replacement belts, rattly 02 sensors, flaking wheels (that I couldn't get repaired.. so they're still flaky), a dead battery (waiting for a new one) and the box was replaced within 2,000 miles of new.
But I still love it and I reckon I could have done far worse. It might not be the most advanced thing in the world, but it's not as simple as a C1!

Had standard Monaro and never let me down. Went the FI route (Vortech) and had nothing but trouble (spent more time on AA wagon than on my drive). Now have a replacement (Thank you Slaters) with Magnacharger and hasn't missed a beat - IMHO it's down to each individual car. Having had 3 in 18 months they all drive slightly different and it just so happens that the '07 plate one I now have is an earlier build number than the '05 plate one I had!!! Weird!
I'm really sorry you've had hass with the VXR8, it saddens me to hear you diss the car.
I have to say, (I think and Hope) you are in the minority, we've delivered nearly 20 cars and haven't really seen one back, other than for the leaky washer bottles.
Our first and second demo cars have been absolutely faultless, the second car is endowed with a Wortec blower and I can honestly say it hasn't missed a beat. It goes like a scalded cat when you want it to, sounds like nothing else, drives like the normal car around town and is about three MPG better in both town and on a run.
Having driven VX220's for 5 years which ware allways in for re-work, both the Monaro and the R8 have been nowt but pleasure.

My CV8 had replacement discs and gearbox under warranty in standard trim. I've added a Magnacharger and it's still spot on (thanks Mark!). The SC so far has really enhanced the car to the point where it feels like OE, once the belt came off due to a bent tensioner and going back to NA made it feel like it had gone into limp-home mode!Picador said:

I've got your first demo one Graham. I assume that you didn't change the washer bottle on that one !! It never seems to have any water in it but it doesn't obviously leak either. I had an 04 CV8 before that I ran for 30k miles - never needed anything other than routine servicing and a full geometry set up to get rid of some uneven tyre wear on the fronts. So far (touch wood) the VXR8 has been fine except for a loose exhaust bracket (Wortec).
