Saw some very quick (and a few very slow-sidevalve Ford Pop ) cars at Drag racing today -Question is , How would Tivvers fair down a quarter mile.
e.g Chim/Griff 500 has a 0-100 of 10.5 secs,how would this equate to a 1/4 mile time ?

BTW , Great day, and topped off with a quick blast in tandem with a T350 on the way home .

Wild (but semi educated) guess, I'd reckon around mid 14s for a 500 with terminal around 115. Anyone actually timed one over the quarter?

Remember although tivs could match some of the times,i suspect alot of our running gear would break after a couple of runs

Times for TVR engined cars (Cerb/Tuscan/I assume Tamora/T350) go from 12.4ish to 13.something dependant on conditions. They certainly wouldnt have been embarrissed in such focussed company. Not sure about the TVRrover V8 cars - doubt they would be much slower though.

Nice to know isnt it

for a comparison I've seen the ultimers run the very low 12's and a stock viper go mid 12's @112, its all down to traction off the line with just the right amount of wheel spin, then power...... a bit of a knack to getting it all right, track/weather conditions play apart as well

a few of you boys should get up to Elvington (August 3rd) 1/4 mile, 1.2 miles and a handling cicuit all timed, being broadcast on Sky

whitey in a Tuscan S has run a 13.1 at 112mph at Santa Pod - no traction off the line - thought he would get into the 12's......

I managed a 12.8 on a damp day at Santa Pod last year in my Tuscan S. Forget the terminal speed now, I have a pic of the gantry at the end as I went through somewhere, so I'll try and find it

great looking whitechimp500,that was me(t350) you were following, great to see so many TVR's on the day and great watching the drag racing. Do you not think they should offer at the end of the day "£10 and you can test your car down the 1/4mile for next year's bear budget?"

I did a run time of 11.8(excl reaction time as I cocked it up that run) in a std Tusacn last year on 16" wheels.

I will be doing the same in the T350c this year with wider wheels but slightly more weight I imagine it won't be much different to the Tuscan.

My 350i has done a 14.1 sec standing quarter at Elvington, according to its previous owner. Not sure whether it would now!
