Are they any good?

Still umming and aahing about a new unit and something that played MP3 files thro' the radio would be good, but only if the quality was OK.

Anyone got any experience (I'm looking at Garmin units, btw)

Thanks

John

Not sat-nav specific but I use a FM transmitter to play music in my classic (so i dont have to cut up the dash to fit a modern radio) and it works brilliantly, no problems so far

I've got a Gramin 660FM, it works really well, quality is pretty good, suppose it will vary depending on the location of your car ariel, but mine is on the roof at the rear. But to be honest I've now hooked mine upto the MP3 input on the cars head unit, so I don't use the FM facility.

I use my TomTom520 with FM transmission every day. Beats CDs, and gives me a much bigger range of tunes.

I'm a bit of a purist/geek with things like this, and the only thing that annoys me is that the radio is not as loud as a CD. Also, silence between songs gives a low radio static type noise. Apart from that, FM transmission is excellent, and I've only had to change the frequency once when travelling far outwith my "home" area.

I'd love a way to hardwire the TomTom into my Z4 stereo, but previous investigations into that option left many ICE installers scratching their head and muttering. I'd still love to do it, so if anyone finds out how, let me know plz smile

Thanks all - I'll give it a punt, probably with the Garmin 710 when I can get my hands on one.

Erd - is the solution to your question in Paul's post immediately above?
