Andy, was that a second hand one for that price? It is from a range rover disovery and cost me about £40 or £50...perfect fit and was identical to the one that came out.
Why are you looking at a replacement ?
Is it because you have a leak ? Cooling problems ?
Or do you just fancy an aluminium rediator.
If it's because of a leak / better cooling I can recommend the re-core option.
You can get improved cooling with increased cores, no problem with brackets
maybe fitting as you get the originals back again.
Can't remember the total cost but it was under £200.00 all done.

Mixture of all three.
Serious cooling problems (travelling along the motorway with temp reading 80 degrees) and upgrading the system. So in urgent need of a new one as my only car.
Now gone for the alloy rad from ACT. Now fitted and engine temp along motoway only 60 degree. Fantastic! Not sure how much this is to do with the fact it is new rather than alloy. But looks good never-the-less.

60Deg seems a little low to me someone better informed may confirm that . Also thought that 80 Deg on the motorway not too bad what would be more important was the way the fans cutting in brought the temps back down and at what temp the car stabilised at in heavy traffic for instance . mine generally runs at say 75-80 deg on the motorway and in heavy traffic the fans go on at 90ish and pull the temps down to 80ish in a few minutes , then go through this all again unless i put the override switch on . My Chim runs at 60 degrees on the motorway.
But even on the hottest days in very slow traffic / jams it has never overheated. There is always that dilemma. Do I keep it running and risk overheating, or stop it and risk having the "hot start" problem. Luckily my car has never suffered either problem It's a 2000 450 with the ally rad. I was told by Walldonway TVR that the ally rad is worth about 10degrees when I queried it running so low despite having fitted a new thermostat from TVR Car Parts.
My mate has a 1999 400 Chim with the earlier rad and his runs a good 10 degrees hotter than mine.
So if yours rums at 60 I wouldn't worry

They are saying the alloy rad is why it runs colder than it should? B
s.Unless you live in siberia, the stat should control the temperature. If it runs colder than the stat opening temperature, the stat is missing/faulty/leaking. It's quite common to drill holes in the stat to aid bleeding, and in very cold conditions this could be enough to provide overcooling, but you should be quite clear that's caused by the stat and not the radiator.
The stock gauge says the fans cut in at just over 90C and go off at 87C. The conclusion that I draw from this is that the temperature sensor / temp gauge and the otter switch are in collusion to fool me into believing that the temperature displayed is in fact not a million miles out.
