I actually bought one of these a couple of months back from Rimmer bros for my V8S (it was about £37), and I have to tell you it works brilliantly.

Fan is much more responsive on my V8S, gauge used to climb a bit before the fan kicked in, now it never moves.

Housing is identical to the original (pre serp) except for the thread for the switch.

Would this be instead of the otter switch?

I can't really see how that would improve things, you will just be getting even more false triggering of the fans due to a whoosh of hot water? What is the point of running the fans when there is nice cool water in the rad already?

Certainly might be of use to mount an extra temp sensor if you were interested in what goes past the stat?

On the V8S the fan / otter switch whatever you want to call it is on a tube which is from the output of the swirl pot before the rad.

My view was that the engine has already increased in temperature before the hotter water coming out of it gets as far as the fan switch, so my temp always cycled up and down a few degrees.

With the fan switch here as soon as the hotter water comes out of the engine it will fire up the fans.

There does not seem to be any false triggering going on.
Just rock steady temperature on the gauge, with fans cycling on and off at idle / in traffic and not at all cruising.

It really shouldn't matter where along the top hose you put the otter switch - the water is absolutely belting round and the time taken to get from one end to the other is negligible.
