Bought a second hand standard back box earlier in the year, got round to trying to fit it at the weekend and it seems the pipes on the box are the same diameter as the link pipes on car - hence it dont fit.. ! Is this normal ? Do i need to sleeve it ? or have I ended up with a 4.2 back box which doesnt fit my 4.5 ?

Its all in an attempt to make my decat sports exhausted cerbie a bit more of a GT, rather than head exploding nut machine !

It could be you have a 4.2 box, as the exhaust system on the 4.5 is a little larger. Thought about the SP box? Expensive, but those that have it seem to like it.

yup, fraid you have the wrong box, I had the same issue. You can either get a 4.5 backbox or alternatively buy some 4.2 centre pipes from JP. I ended up doing that so now have a 4.2 system on my 4.5. I have a spare, albeit ropey rusty system in my garage if you need something desperately.

Got to hear an SP system the other week. Sounds great!
Mine is currently the delaer fit Cat Sports system. The system I heard was a deCat with SP rear box. I wouldn't say there was much difference in loudness, but the SP system sounded deeper with a nice growling bite to it as the revs rise. Mine on the other hand sounded tinny in comparison.

Alternatively cut off the pipes from the other back back and weld them onto your new one?
