So this morning the Mrs is on the train, so I decide to leave the Bandit at home and take the Gixxer. Thinking that I will get a new front tyre for the Gixxer after work (from Essential Rubber - always good prices for tyres there).

So I get the Gixxer out of garage, and am sorting the bins out when some old boy comes walking over to my driveway. Talk to him for about 10 mins about mototbikes, he used to be into bikes around 20 years ago and he was telling me about bikes I knew nothing about, and I was telling him about bikes he knows everything about! Seems you never lose interest if you are a biker - he must have been 80+. I offered to take him out on the back of the Bandit in the future - and he was really keen. Said he would go home and dig his stuff out.

So finally I am ready to leave for work, IPOD on, helmet on, neck warmer on and gloves on. Start the bike but it won't move. Take all the gear off and realise battery has flattened whilst talking to old boy. Battery came out of the Bandit when I bought it and is dodgy - rode 75 miles yesterday, and it is dead as anything now - I must have charged it 5 times in the last couple of months. So wheel Gixxer back into garage and get the Bandit out.

Smile has been wiped from my face - as I ride the Bandit two up every day, and was really looking forward to a good ride in on the Gixxer. So Artic Monkeys on playlist and finally leave the house.

Now me and my mates talk about days when you can ride, and days you just can't do it. Yesterday I was awful, felt like Bambi on ice on the Gixxer!

Today on the Bandit - what a bike - what a rider!! I was quicker than everyone on the road, saw gaps that aren't usually there - and generally really enjoyed myself, and had a quicker journey than ever before on either bike, despite not even seeing a "century on the scoreboard".

Had a smile on my face all day - and set me up perfectly for the weekend. Can't wait to get out of here and back on the bike.

Now where is the best place (no hurry - mail order will be fine) to get a new battery for the Gixxer from?

There's definitely some days when everything just falls into place. The bike seems a little quicker, the tarmac a little grippier and the surrounding traffic a little slower.

I love those days!

Even better when you make it home safely after making a comment like I did on an internet forum!

Have to agree. Even after riding for only 12 months I notice the difference some days.
