Currently have a Cerbera at the top of my list.
Ive got around the £20k mark to play with. With an upper limit of £25k really.
So what should I expect to get for my money?
It does worry me buying privately, due to the age of car I'd be getting. What with all the stories you hear of TVR.
My friend has had his Tuscan S now for a year and I'm itching to join the TVR gang!
So any help would be much apprichated!

You should get a very nice car for that money and less!
Don't be put off by buying privately, hire a specialist
to check the car over (about £200) and you will get a
full report on the car.
True they won't be able to test the engine and get right under the car,
but it certainly would take you a long way to knowing about the car.
Key tip on a private purchase, research the history of
the car, do an HPI check and speak to the dealers who have serviced it and finally, TVR can supply you with a complete service history (if it has been completed) for about £35.
I did all the above and appear to have got not only a bargain, but a sound car.

Yes I have been looking into it for a little while now.
Had a good chat with TMS at PF over the weekend. Buying from a dealer would obviously be the safest bet, but I have seen there are some "bargains" to be had out there buying privately.
The one thing is at least 90% of TVR owners are true enthusiasts about their cars, so should be looked after well. But obvioulsly they don't know if the engine is going to let go 3000 miles later.
I am also looking at warrenty policies given by other companies.
I'll keep you updated. But fingers crossed this summer I will be out on one of the Surrey runs!

I recently bought my first TVR (Cerbera) from an independent dealer '98 S 4.5 with 19,000, with FTVRSH, 12 months MOT, 1 years AA backed comprehensive warranty, just serviced, all for £24k. I could have bought privately for (say) £2k less but I wanted the (relative) piece of mind.
Apparently the thing you must get checked by an expert is the emmissions!

There are quite a few out there for that price. Everybody will tell you to look at a few but I ended up going back to the first one I looked at, mostly because I just felt comfortable that the owner was an enthusiast and had looked after the car.
Managed to put a few miles on it and even went for a spin today even though its pi55ing it down up here all day
