I've been looking for a TVR(I'll keep it vague) There was one that appealed to me on here. When I contacted the guy he said he had withdrawn it from sale due to time wasters. Fair enough. The car has re-appeared for sale.
So a call is made, all going well, until I ask has there been any accident damage. Yes came the reply( again I'll keep it vague) but enough to be concerned about.
Why the did he not mention it in the advert, I would suggest he's the ing timewaster the ing helmet couldn't even tell me who serviced his car tt

ha ha ha, you have a anger management problem like me!

understand you being pissed off though! nothing wrong with a bumped one as long as the price is right and the repair is spot on.

A dealer is not obliged to declare a car has been accident damaged. It's up to the buyer to ask. It's not illegal for the dealer to do this.

Sounds like a number of people asked that guy exactly what you asked him and he withdrew it because of that very question.

At least he was honest ..... imagine if he had said no and you had bought it frown

Choice is just walk away. There are plenty decent ones out there m8

Years ago I advertised a car and a yorkshireman phoned to ask about it. I told him all the good stuff and was quite taken back when he bluntly said "now what's wrong with it". Thing is though, by him asking the right question and me giving a factual reply it didn't half save a lot of wasted time for both of us.

I can understand a seller not declaring accident damage in an advertisement. At least if a buyer calls he has a chance to declare former damage and still make a sale.

I'm aware that your problem was with a private seller. I highlighted that a dealer is not obliged to inform a buyer that a car has been accident damaged and therefore a private seller can do the same. Theres the old saying "Let the buyer beware"

Not sure where you are coming from with the honour amongst thieves bit m8. He answered your question honestly when you asked him.

ok naievely I expected a P/head ad to be honest and give full details that's all
so before this runs and runs
Who would sell a car with crash damage without telling the buyer

Almost insured my tiv with the company that is 'hinted' at in earlier posts. Someone else advised against it and I went with Hagerty who specialize in TVR insurance. Lets just say that I got insurance £400 cheaper with Hagerty than 'other' specialist insurance groups and in some cases £1500 cheaper than others.
Nice one but wrong post I think
