Hi All

Driving home from work the other day, hit a jam and watched my temp guage climb and waited for the fans to kick into action. No action from the fans so I pulled off the road in time for a few wisps of steam to emerge from under the bonnet. I had the ignition turned off for a few minutes and then turned the keys only to hear the fans decide to switch on! I made it home (once things had cooled) and whilst messing around parking, the fans came on as usual and all seemed fine.

Questions:- what would make the fans not work in one instance and work in another? Why did they switch on a few minutes after over-heating?

Cheers, Gary

Let's start at intermittent electrics, assume you do not have fan override switch installed?

You could try to duplicate the problem, but knowing TVRs it's a one-off never to rear it's ugly head again

"Sir, they all do that " . .

could be the relay maybe?
mine has failed in both on and off positions.
i have a new one now.......which i knocked out the other day ( whilst changing another fuse - must do that mod ) and it fell behind the battery box. removing the battery and refitting it certainly took longer than i had expected.

The classic is the connectors to the fans get water in them and then blades of the connectors corrode. Easy to check and a good starter for ten.

I had this two weeks ago.. the bottom connector on the otter switch was full of crud and dry as a bone.. some GT40 and a cloth soon sorted it out.

Cheers,
Matt.
