Those Little Weekend Jobs
Discussion
Its pleasing when the weekend allows you to catch up with those little jobs that need to be done
Spent some time with the Chim today and;
Cleaned the stepper motor. Didn't get off to a good start when I found that my 200mm adjustable spanner was not quite adjustable enough and thought, "Who's the spanner now?"
£15 later I found that a 250mm was just the right size
Note: Anyone wanting to do the aforementioned will need a 250mmm or bigger adjustable spanner!
Replaced the rear plate that came with the car when I bought it(a bog standard plate) with a rather nice translucent one ordered from Webbs Auto's
Earlier in the week I had the passenger side door motor/solenoid replaced. I couldn't unlock the door from outside and when I used the button on the drivers door mirror the passenger side made a horrible noise. Likewise when I unlocked and locked the doors with the key fob. All is now working as it should .... and quietely
Had the rear speakers wired correctly (i.e. now working) and the difference is noticeable ..... not that I'm listening to the stereo that much more .... for obvious reasons!
Biggest result was the roof. Shortly after buying the car I found to my soggy carpeted annoyance that it leaked. A couple of applications of Fabsil (and following tvrbobs excellent write up) and a few heavy showers recently (the car had been left outside following completion of work on the door etc) and I found the roof is now completely waterproof
The Chim is making me grin even without driving it!

A fortnight ago I started work on my chassis as the powder coat on the outriggers was beggining to bubble and chip off.
The actual metal is in good shape but needs the work to ensure that it stays that way. After spending 2 weekends on it I am only just halfway through.
So much for those little jobs
After that I plan to sort out the hood as it needs sprucing up, new rubbers re-dyeing and water proofing.
Then I will be looking as adding some clear indicators.
So many bits and pieces to do, not so much out of neccesity but general enthusiasm to spend time with the car.

I've always been the same with my cars - finding things to replace, renew etc. and if its broken I have to have it working
The Chim deserves as much attention as I can give it, which is probably not as much as I should give it because I just find any excuse to drive it! Have a small list of things to do none of them really that urgent but once done will be how I want the car. I say small list but the more I think the list gets longer because there is always something to do
