Morning all.

Been back a few pages but can`t find this question.

Kids want a PS3.
I believe there is more than one model?
Is the low end one really crap?
Someone must have searched out the best deal?
£250 import from HK no good?

Thanks in advance

Suplimentary Question!

Just browsed the thread about upgrading the HDD so maybe a 40gb hard drive model will save me some money.

Is the size of the hard drive the only difference between the two models?

Just looked at the Argos net page and it clearly states that the 40Gb machine will not play PS2 games but says nothing like this for the 80Gb machine.
Is this right?

Shopto are pretty good on price and have some good info on the machine. CLICKY

The 40 gig model doesnt have the memory card reader and only has 2 USB slots but this is no great loss, Its not able to play ps2 games but there have been a few reports that it can play a few.

The 60 gig can be had at shopto for £299 but with no games, I have seen it around at £329 with 2 games and an extra controller but cant remember where. I think if you can find the 60 gig at a good price with the games its the best value for money.

The "low end" one is now officially the only one and as soon as stocksof the existing one are used up, they will cease to be available in the shops.

I wouldn't worry too much about PS2 compatability though, if you really need to play PS2 games still you can pick up a PS2 for about twenty quid second hand
