I have been getting along famously with my new DSLR and have managed to get some great shots, however.....

I now need to use some for a ppt. presentation and I caanot import them into powerpoint. They are saved as jpeg images (of around 1.4Mb) and I know the computer works as I can import all the other photos (from my crap coolpix). They are not saved as read only files or anything daft....I am at my wits end.

The computer will soon be going out of the window, followed swiftly by myself if I cannot sort this.

Any help GREATFULLY received

Have you tried opening Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop, opening the JPGs from the camera and re-saving as a differnt file name? This has worked in the past for me, but I have NO idea why.

Get Carter !!

You have just saved a near suicide attempt (and a wrecked computer). I saved it as a TIFF file and it will import them quite happily !!

Thanks

(if you ever have a medical question please feel free to ask !!)

as for the hair problem...not sure

Could be anything from vitiligo to skin irritation from hair products

Another time it's worth simply copying and pasting - a lot simplier. My normal workflow is

In Photoshop
- clean, levels etc.
- resize to correct size for ppt - normally 800px wide for a biggish image, but experiment
- gentle sharpen
- select all and copy (Ctrl A then Ctrl C / Ctrl Shift C)

In powerpoint
- edit->paste special-> Paste as device independant bitmap
- only ever uniform scale in ppt and in factors of 1/2 ie 25% 50% so as not to try and squash 3.5 pixels into 1 etc.

THe device independant bitmap bit is critical rather than normal paste, as office uses bizarre resolution (not the more usual 72 dpi), so things come in soft.

This works for other office apps too, and apart from giving you the best quality in ppt, it also means your picture hungry presentation isn't burdened by 10 Megapixel images so still loads really quickly.
