Jeepers... forgot just how cold it is on the bike in the mornings on these cold winter days. Saw the sun shining and thought no need for the neck warmer.. oh how wrong I was.

My Alpinestars leathers are now out and the waterproof Hein Gerricke winter leathers are now well and truely in!

Safe and warm biking everyone thumbup

Mate, I was crying me eyes out this morning....also seem tio have some disease on my lips brought on by the cold...... still not gonna stop me though...It's character building stuff! I also noticed a load of grit/salt type stuff on the roads this morning...Makes pulling away from the lights a bit more fun!!

I had the heated grips on full blast this morning!
My hands were still cold, but then I'm still wearing summer gloves. I find thicker winter gloves actually make my hands feel colder, because the warmth from the grips cant penetrate thicker gloves.

Ahhh how many winters have I done now?
This is going to be my 2nd winter as a fair weather rider.
That doesn't mean Mr Ninja wont be out to play, it just means I'm gonna be soooo selective about it smile

And my car has such an effective heater smile

Have you got the oxford ones? I have the new oxford ones with the new control box (leds and buttons rather than a twirly knob). I had mine set to the 3rd setting of 4 and it got too hot after a while and had to put it back to the 2nd setting while wearing winter gloves. I find that as you say I have to wind it up slightly for thicker gloves and only wear them to reduce the chill from the wind blast. I've connected mine directly to the battery to ensure I get a decent amount of current as I was concerned I wouldn't get as much if I hooked in to the lights or something like that.

I bought the cheap heated grip and muff combo from M&P and they're great smile

Had the grip on "Lo" with summer gloves on with the muffs to take the edge off too and was nice and warm all the way to work. Best (£30) investment ever smile

Had to de-ice the seat first though.

I reckon the muff/heated grip combo is the way to do it.

I'm 39 this week so reckon I'll fit the muffs I bought a few years ago but didn't fit because they looked shite. It's about time I stopped caring how I look and dress and really let myself go. I'll let the wife know tonight wink

Def was cold today.. Think the thermal liners are going in the goretex kit tonight and I'll dig out the proper winter gloves. I've been on halfway house lined summer style gloves for the past few weeks too cold even on a 20min commute into central london today.

Had an hours lesson this morning, I was chuffin freezing! My eyes were watering and my nose was running at one point, glad we stopped for a wipe and warm up (attractive!). Will be getting some heated insoles and gloves for sure smile

Jesus, you guys must not feel the cold. I've had my liners in for weeks and was wearing two layers of skiing fleece underwear today!

I have Dainese goretex two-piece suit and the only bit of me that gets cold is generally my hands as I hate winter gloves. Up until now, I;ve just had my shirt on under the goretex jacket.

This morning, I had a thermal t-shirt on and thin liners in my gloves. Hands were chilly by the time I got to work (about 45 mins with traffic).

ETA - This morning is about as cold as I go. Once it dips below this and the salt goes down I'll be commuting in the car. I'll have to get up half hour earlier, though!

It was rather nippy this morning, put thermals on instead of a pullover was about the same, but feels more comfortable than a thick sweater.

Hands do get cold though......might have to invest in heated grips in the near future. (I really don't like wearing winter gloves (Alpine Stars Jet Road Gore-tex) as the feedback feels wrong).

Yer must be a combination of having a high tolerence for the cold probably something to do with three winters with a bike as my only transport and the fact that technically I have only one section of road on my route to work with a greater than 30mph limit. I'll admit it was cold today main problem as others say were my hands, so I'll dig the full winter jobs out tonight.
Its always coming up to mid-nov when my full winter liners come out in any case, someone asked me that very question about two weeks ago.

It was cold today! I have heated grips on the Bandit I recently bought - but cannot remember which ones, I think they have "hotgrips" written on them.

They have a dial switch with off, start and on written on it. Put them on "start" and they burn your hands after about 10 minutes, put them "on" and they are barely warm enough to notice they are on.

Question is - are they safe to just keep switching from "off" to "start" and then flicking off again? Or will I eventually ruin them?

Mine are GTmoto ones with a simple lo|hi|off switch. They don't get that hot, but it makes a big difference.
I'm hoping to get some handle bar mitts from the NEC show biggrin

I got these which also have HI/LO/OFF. Hi is too warm for the moment, but they can be left on all journey. Lo is just noticable so takes the edge off. With the mitts though, Lo is pperfect with no feeling of cold at all in summer gloves smile
