What a weekend!
I now have one of the Raceproved cam covers fitted on my Tuscan!
It is amazing as i watched the whole process of fitting and have seen how it works. The oil is pumped into the pipes and into the top of the engine through fine jets prior to letting the car start - the display even shows the oil presure rising prior to letting the car start!

I now have every confidence in starting my car in the cold as used to hate the first 20 -30 secs thinking of metal on metal and no oil. Thankfully there was vertually no wear showing as car has only done 8k so lets hope an engine built is put on hold with this little beauty!
Thanks to goon1001 i also have the HID head lamps fitted with the LED side lights which are amazing and thoroughly tested over the snake pass on sat night and yes they are as good as he says no real need for high beam although combined with the HID of full beam on the Tuscan S it is like daylight!

Waxoil done also and truelly ready for winter, although it will spend most of its time under a cover in the garage waiting for those crisp days!

Oh I forgot to mention having a full nut and bolt check around as after my last service i lost confidence in the work of the indie because the brakes were slowly weeping out of the bleed nipples thankfully spotted before going more than 5/6 miles as the brake fluid had started draining out!
The full check around did reveal a few shockers too: one of the airbox bolts was loose and whilst investigating further we found the reason - the chap had dropped his snap-on rench and couldnt be bothered to fetch it, also found a 13mm spanner - I WILL NOT BE GOING THERE AGAIN! (only wish i could tell you where)

yep the pre-oiler does turn itself off once the engine is running.
I didnt think it was pricey but def dont think so now I have seen all the parts that go into making it work, if fact i would go asfar as saying i almost thought it would be more! You also have to throw in the added life to the engine and the level of relief that i now feel when i turn the key!

ive been running a pre production/development version of the Raceproved Cam Cover/pre oiler for over 12months now.
my car is a year 2000, 4litre and has covered around 16k miles. The car is used just as a weekend plaything so is often left garaged for some weeks before being driven with enthusiasm on quiet Sunday mornings.
The Raceproved cover operates by initially priming the engine with oil pumped via its own electric pump from the oil reservoir up through the engine, through the existing oil path's, and down from the top of the engine via the spray bars fitted to the new cam cover. This builds the oil pressure until a preset level is reached, at which point the ecu allows the starter moter to operate and ignition commence. The electric pump continues to run for some seconds together with the mechanical oil pump until the ecu is happy that pressure is satisfactory. You are able to watch the oil pressure build on the LCD pod display. Automatic Over rides are built into the system if the car stalls, and needs to be started quickly and it is also possible to manually over ride the system. The car starts much more easily than before, the starter moter has hardly engaged before the engine catches. The spray bars fitted in the Cover continue to direct oil from the top of the engine, down directly onto the cams and followers fed by the engines mechanical pump.
Over the twelve months or so that the Cover has been fitted, I have noticed a marked reduction in the characteristic sewing machine / tappety engine noise of the Speed Six. The engine now sounds so much smoother and mechanically refined, the bag of bolts engine has become almost BMW smooth. Before the Cam Cover was fitted the Car was serviced and the valve clearances checked and adjusted. Notes were taken of the individual clearances, and these have just been compared with those taken from last weeks service. The clearances do not appear to have moved at all. Further more the mechanic felt that the condition valve gear was remarkable with no sign of wear at all.
I quite accept that it is still early days, and it will take much longer to establish beyond doubt whether or not this product is able to do all that we hope it would. What I can say is that it has run completely faultlessly
has been 100% reliable and has given me the peace of mind to drive the car far harder than I would have previously.
