Powder Coated Cam Box and Plenum

Having tackled the radiator, exhaust, clutch hose and gear linkage, I decided to treat the car to a few cosmetics.
First off was the engine bay, which has received a newly powder coated plenum chamber and cam covers, together with polished and chromed bolts, air balance pipes and dipstick bracket.
The powder coating only cost £30 and is a perfect match for the original, save that it doesn't have the wrinkle finish.
Preparation is everything, with lots of time consuming stripping and masking. The powder coating was turned round in less than 24 hours, leaving me simply to remove the masking and to run over the raised lettering and the fins with a block of fine wet and dry paper.
The polishing and plating cost about £35 all in, for the balance tubes, all the plenum bolts, the mounting bolts for the pressure regulator and the dipstick bracket.
The motor now looks like a million dollars, which is not bad, seeing that it only cost 65 quid.

Wow!!!! What a difference, those polished pipes are the business. We have started replacing all the crappy bolts with poilshed ones and it all adds up. You did a great job with the paint. I must say I am not a fan of the wrinkly paint look that Lotus has provided us, so am glad someone else has gone for more cleaner look.
Was it easy taking it all apart and putting back together without too many probs?

You will need a couple of gaskets for the plenum.
Once the plenum is off, it makes access to the oil filter a breeze, so it makes sense to wait until you are due an oil change, so that you can kill two birds with one stone.
