Hi all,

The central locking on my dad's '99 S-Type has gone a bit doolally. You press the remote button (or turn the key in the door) and it locks for a split-second before unlocking itself again. Any suggestions?!

Thanks, Strugs.

Check the charge in the battery (car not fob).
My XJ has been known to do this, often after not having been used for a while.

Do you have a key hole on the NSF ? If so, try the key in there, if the central locking works ok from there then the fault lies in the OSF door latch assembly, not un-common on the S-Type. If no key hole, see if the OSF door is locking and unlocking when you work the key or remote, my money would be on this item.
