Starter Motor RANT!!!!
Discussion
Week before BBWF the starter on the Wedge failed, bought a cheapie Bosche type off Fleabay for £60, it was delivered within 36 hours, great I thought, fitted it and forgot about it till a month ago when it began making noises like a socket set in a washing machine, contacted the supplier and they offered a refund or replacement, not prepared to change the unit every few months I elected to take the refund and purchase one of these new fangeled high torque geared units!
Surfed the Web and found a Midlands based supplier Called WM Motorsport, owned by a Prat called David Bromley, he said it was 'in stock' and delivery was 3 days, fantastic I thought, so I ordered it and paid £224 via Paypal (phew) and waited 3 days........nothing arrived, contacted the Prat and he said "it's a special order and it is being made and will be posted tomorrow" I voiced my opinions on that statement and waited a further 3 days and surprise surprise.....nothing arrived!
Emailed numerous times, rang the company number and his moble (conveniently on his website) and received no reply to the emails and nobody answering the phones, with that I duly lodged a claim via Paypal.
Rang around a few people and was informed that he has done a Moonlight Flit and owes a lot of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Found another firm who could supply the same type of starter 'Midland performance centre' contacted them, " oh yes we definately have one in stock, £180 and delivery in 3 days" (sound familiar?)Waited 3 days and guess what???????????????????????
No F***ing starter arrived, just the copy of the invoice, rang them and received a novel excuse, "we dont have them in stock, we have them made to order but the guy that makes them is on holiday and wont be back till monday" O.F.F.S said me!
"We will post it out Monday and you will receive it on Wednesday" with that i asked to be notified by phone confirming when it had been posted and a tracking number.
Surprise surprise, no phone call, rang the buggers this morning and demanded a refund but unfortunatly the Minion was 'new' and didn't know how to issue a refund and was told the guy dealing with it had 'popped' out for an hour and would call me on his return.
I rang four times throughout the day and finally made contact at 4.30 today, only to be informed "the guy who makes them has gone home because he is jet-lagged" arghhhhhh!
Spat my dummy out and got a refund.
Now then,on another note, I have since found out that the clown from WM Motorsport (David Bromley) has just started a new job at Compomotive Wheels in the Midlands ( I have contacts in low places!)
So I thought I would give him a suprise welcome at his new job and give him a call,
To say that the idiot was shocked that I had tracked him so easily would be an understatement! And after a few thinly veiled threats, a cheque has been received by me today and also confirmation from Paypal that the claim has been settled in my
favour and money extracted from his account.
The question is do I bank the cheque aswell???? just to see how high it bounces?
And the next question is......Where on earth can I get one of these damn starter motors from!

When my starter slowed down ominously I ook it off, went to my local garage which I've been using for donkeys years and asked them to ' get one ' they did, in one day , a range rover ' Hella ' type , £125 . Still going but not been on for more than 3 weeks , but have wrapped it in heat protective stuff .
Thanks for the invite pal but most of the car time is being ploughed into track prep on my Fury at the mo' will see if I can wangle a run.
The wedge now has a new MOT though woohoo!
Will be out in it maybe next Wheatsheaf though.
Tried the Fury at Oulton few weeks back, makes the wedge feel like a bus!
Still gotta love cheese though.
