Indicators help- any cerbera owners in edinburgh?
Discussion
For a while now I've had intermittent problems with the near side indicators on my cerb. Well, as with all problems that are a pain to fix, and don't really bother you, they get left until they really need fixing, and since I have my MOT in a a fortnight, I now have to get this sorted.
It seems my car has suffered a stroke. All indicators on the left of the car refuse to work, whilst either indicating left, or in using the hazard switch. The right side works fine, and incidentally all lights flash when the car is locked/unlocked, but thats powered off the immobilizer anyway. When you try to indicate left, the flasher unit makes a buzzing noise, but I've ruled this out as being the route of the problem as I tried another similar flasher from a working car and I get the same result.
So, I'm thinking there's either a bad earth somewhere, or that the control box for the indicators is faulty. This is where another cerbera would come in handy, to swap the boxes over to see if this fixes things. So, are there any cerbera owners in Edinburgh that fancy letting me pop round to test my theory? If not, then does anyone have a spare control box they might let me use?
Thanks in advance, Rob.

I have a Cerb down in the Borders in dry dock so control box is redundant short term if you are stuck. I Pass through Edinburgh at some point most weeks. I will speak to our electrician to have a look at the wiring diagram in the morning to try and throw some light on the situation (pardon the pun) I would have thought an earth problem would show up in other lights.
Bizarre

Thats great mate. I think it is looking like the control box. I swapped over the outputs from the control box, so that the left hand output powers the right side and vice versa, and with that, the left hand side works fine, and the right stops. The reason the flasher makes the buzzing noise, I believe, is that it is only receiving ~8v, rather than the 12v it receives when the other side is engaged.
Anyone know what the going rate for one of these boxes is?

Well, I have to say that I'm pretty chuffed with myself. Having decided that the fault was in the control box, I set about working out a circuit diagram for it to see how it works. Doing so I managed to isolate the single faulty component, and today I replaced it for £2.50 and hey-presto it works like a dream! the lucky bit was in finding a 12v/5A relay that has exactly the same pin layout to the original Feme one, as the new Feme one (as sold by Maplin) with the same part number has changed configuration. As it happened though, the Goodsky ones that are sold in my local electrical shop have the perfect pin arrangement to drop straight in with no additional wiring or cutting to the board. So, in all a neat saving of £40 on a new box (plus, a feeling of great smugness!)
Many thanks though to those offering to lend me a new ecu, its really good to know that help is out there when you need it. Also, if anyone else has any similar troubles with this part, I would be happy to provide a repair service. In fact, you could easily replace all the componentry in that little box for about a tenner, and that way you know you've got a brand new box, rather than a second hand one that could wear out after a week.
