Bought a 4.5 1998 chimaera six weeks ago after wanting one for years, needless to say I love it. Every weekend since I escape London to the give the car the roads it deserves.

Last Saturday while driving back to London, doing about 90, water started spurting from right hand front of the car i.e. opposite the driver’s side. Lasted for 20-30 seconds. Since then the car has not over heated and driven normally, any suggestions to what it may be??

I had washed the car that day, however I had driven the car for 5 hours before the water incident.

Would appreciative your help………..

If its not overheating and you are not losing coolant, could it be the washer bottle for the windscreen wipers? Perhaps a pipe has come off somewhere.

The easiest way is to measure the level regually, then just after you get rhe water coming out measure it again. (May take a while to determine if it does not happen regurally). And keep an eye on the temperature guage.

Check your pipes. I had my belt catch a pipe last week, was rubbing it for a while and eventually caused a tiny hole which lead to water jetting out!! But I would think that it would be doing it all the time if this was the case!!

My BMW suddenly peed headlamp cleaner all over the bonnet a couple of months ago. A bizarre one-off. A friend's Mitsi Galant had a similar problem - the screenwash pump kept coming on at random intervals.

bmw?

but surely, these cars are ultra-reliable, and never have problems like that?

Similar thing happened to mine. After a run I got a hissing noise from the same area. Checked it out and there was a little hole (microscopic) in top of rad. Just getting hold of a fresh one should sort it or get it reconditioned.
