I don't know quite why, but this annoys me almost as much as "thank you for not smoking" and the like, perhaps because it overvalues my contribution when it's crap, and feels patronising when it is profound. Any chance of the message being changed?

I chose that message.

If you feel your contributions aren't worthy (I tend to agree with you) then perhaps you should reconsider what you do contribute rather than ask us to change the system.

Maybe I'm an idealist, but I do post a lot of crap as it's the only way I can make good posts, and obviously I apologise for that...

However, if it's only the occasional me that gets annoyed by these messages, I shall of course learn to punch myself in the temple instead. Ahoy!

You raise a valid concern though. Many of us are concerned about your worthless contributions (this being a case in point). Consider your days numbered if this is the best you can come up with.
