have got the itch for another watch, haven't decided what I want but I do know it must be 'discrete' i.e. to look at it doesn't shout LOOK AT ME!!!

any suggestions up to £2k, metal braclet and has a nice weighty feel

Omega, GP & IWC are my favourites. All make some really nice understated watches.

I think the black Planet Ocean is really nice but not a chrono at that budget.

IWC Pilots and GP's are way over your budget

Not sure if you want a chronograph, but how about this for very subtle and very rare:

Union Glashutte Classic Chronograph, in-house movement, just in budget, extremely hard to find though - no clue where you will get one wink

No that was the truth. Maybe the smiley was misleading.

I don't have one, though I really would like one. I saw one for sale a while ago, but its gone now, and I'm kicking myself for missing it.

Union are the "affordable" arm of Glashutte Original, and production seems to be on hold indefinitely as they can sell as many GOs as they can make.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean fits the bill perfectly - see this thread:

Not quite sure I can agree with you on this one. Nice watch, for sure, but subtle?

LOL fair point - guess it depends on your definition of subtle wink, but they come in black too:
