Hullo
I think there are a couple of earlier threads on the V6. Id try a search.

From my experience I had a few more issues than I expected for a VW. I ran a 2001 4motion up to 72K miles and had the following problems:
2 x MAF sensors, ECU problems, lots of spark plugs, seized anti roll bar, failed CD changer, failed temp gauge. Most of these werent that expensive to sort out; more annoying.

The other main problem is the cooling fans which can fail and can be quite pricey to fix. Mine was OK on this front.

Overall the cars are good all-rounders and are now very good value. Plus points are the excellent engine yes, 4wd grip and a good level of standard spec. Negative points are floaty handling, average brakes and nasty fake wood trim yuck.

Hope this helps.

I think Volksbits, GCP et al. do them as well.

The wooden bits in a 4 motion really let the interior down.
