Have something on my 2002 Tuscan which is a bit annoying, when I press the window button on the drivers side it opens the passenger door, I presume it isn't normal? I find it quite annoying as sitting in traffic I often hit it with my knee.

Sounds a bit odd! Does the passenger door button open the driver's door then? Not sure how the buttons are wired back from the stereo pod to the door ECU's but that's where I would be looking....

No press the passenger side and nothing happens, I did wonder if someone had replaced the ECU with a early style one that opens the doors as well.

On early cars pressing the window button was the way of opening the doors. Most were altered as later cars with the buttons next to the stereo.
However in my car (2001) pressing the driver's window button opens the driver's door. I believe this is unusual. The passenger's window button doesn't open a door.
The crazy world of TVR!

YKB, how do you open the passenger door then ?

MY 2000 Tuscan Mk1 - press door/window button drivers side, driver door opens.
press passenger/window button, passenger door opens.

for the driver button to open the passenger door would suggest a short somewhere or that something has been connected back up incorrectly.

Has the problem just started on its own or has done this when you bought her.
If the latter, iI would guess that someone has tried to fix one of the door/window controls and connected a wire back wrong.

I have the buttons either side of the stereo as well. It's just that I can open the driver's door with either the right hand stereo button or the window button.

I was looking under the console at the wiring while sorting my heating, i believe the orange and white wire from the window buttons opens the door, or thats wha i could work out as both have been removed from the multi plug presumably when the upgrade to the stereo pod was done. See if yours are still connected and remove them if you have the pod upgrade.

I think mine came with the pod as standard as it's a 2002 car, but I'll check to see what is connected, it has been like it ever since I've had the car, I know that 2 previous owners are on here too so might get in contact and see if it's always done it.

I know that when I put my windscreen washers on the cigar lighter goes off (because the satnav tells me it has list external power) ! Quirky but fun none the less !

Hi Paul

Nope it didn't do it when it was mine. I often pressed it hoping something would happen though, nothing ever did!!

Looks like I'll have to investigate further, think I'll start by going through the paperwork and see if the window ECU's have been changed since you've had it.

Following on from this old post... What does pressing the interior window buttons do for the later Mk1 cars? I understand the earlier Mk1s they opened the doors, but on my 2003 it doesn't seem to do anything (or am I doing something wrong?)

It was changed early 2000 as people kept opening their doors by mistake, so the buttons were added next to the stereo and the push on the window controls deactivated, so yours is the correct setup.
