Has anyone bought an Origin B2 yet? If so, what is your initial impression?

Oh well, looks like I might have to be the first to buy. It all looks pretty impressive on paper - greater functionality than a RoadPilot and about £70 less!

Don't have a B2 but thought it worth mentioning that I got an Origin Blue i 6 months ago - it's excellent and has saved me several times. Also, the staff at Origin have been really good. My unit developed a minor fault and they replaced it very quickly and gave me an additional 6 months sub to the GPS db.

Highly recommended,

The best I have found is £423.99 inc postage and packing from www.originblueidirect.co.uk - only £6 less than rrp I know ... but still alot less than comparable alternatives.

What sort of deal have you found as I am fairly sure we could raise 10 people on this forum within a couple of days!

I'd be interested in purchasing a B2 via a "bulk buy discount". Having read a few reviews/looked at web sites etc it seems to get good reviews and have all the latest features etc.

If you join the ABD (and we all should) you get a 20% discount on all this stuff from Network Associates.

The price that i have been quoted is £350. They are due to recieve the stock from today onwards.

I will also ask what price they can do the extra cradles and radar alert and jammers for if anyone is interested in those.

We would need around 8 to 10 people to achive this price, if we have more i will push for a further price reduction.

Hi Guys,

There's three of us at my office that want the B2 - we've been looking around for the best deal but noone seems to be prepared to discount.

If theres genuinely a way to get together to get the price down a bit, then we'd be really intereted.

Ordered B2 2 weeks ago from the factory. Delivery should be next week. Delay due to some parts missing. Don't know anybody yet (other than Autocar who tested it a while ago) who has got one.

When I have installed it and used it, will report back.

Hiya guys,

I received my b2 unit on Friday, and i have to say that i am very impressed. The unit itself has many improvments over past gps detectors, and i like the warning system alot. One thing to bear in mind however is that the factory 'alert' settings are not early enough and you could still end up going through a trap over the limit if the detection distance is not increased. The cradle that holds the unit in the car is very nifty, and its use means a very neat and inconspicous installation. The alerts are loud and the screen is very visible at night due to its green backlight. The update process is also very comprehensive and professional.

One niggle i had at first was that the unit wouldn't sit in the cradle properly and would reset when travelling over bumps. This problem was diagnosed by the tech staff earlier today and all i had to do was change the polarity of the magnets around in the cradle so its now gripped in like a limpit

Other than that, the product is pure quality, although i really didn't appreciate the weeks of dealys due to manufacturing problems I can recommend it to anyone, and this is from a user who has moved on from the Road Angel. The b2 is in a different league i'm afraid, and the best out there. My LRC100 laser diffuser (ahem, garage door opener!) arrives tomorrow, so i can't wait to hook that up to the system for complete peace of mind.

Regards,

Henry

Tanvir, what sort of time scale do you need to arrange the discounted group purchase? I'm still very interested in being part of it but I've just got to have one of these new toys soon!

Looking forward to ordering one as well....but tell me why you're choosing the LRC100? I've just started looking at diffusers and obviously want a good one. Does it integrate properly with the B2?

Me too, why are you ordering that laser defuser? i thought the defuser 920 snooper was the puppy to buy?

also, does the b2 have a main unit and a display unit like the early origin products, does the antenna have problems with working through magnetically sheilded windows?

Hiya guys,

I will attempt to answer your questions. The LRC100 is the 'daddy ( )' and is the best on the market as far as the pros tell me. visit www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk for a full review. It works faultlessly and is the most expensive on the market, so it should do!

Regarding the antenna, yes a magnetically shielded screen will mess with it, hence why origin provides such a long wire on the antenna so that it can be mounted on the rear parcel shelf.

The unit has a large and highly visible (even in sunlight) LCD screen which glows green at night. The cradle system enables the unit toe be removed in an instance for security reasons which is a feature i like alot.

I will try and take a pic before i go to Florida for two months on Thursday ( ) and will show you how it looks installed. My garage opener should arrive today, although when i asked BMW if they would install it for me, they said that they would play no part in 'criminal activites' Sod them, they are legal to own so they can stick that in their pipe and smoke it

Henry
