Vortec Supercharger

Any one got any exprience of these.

I have a 1994 840 fitted with a Vortec 2 Supercharger, My only complaint is the horendous mechanicle noise from the unit at idle speed/tickover.

The sound does not belong under the bonnet of a Bmw but both the installers & the suppliers of the kit [ESS]tell me that I have to expect some noise!!, but this to my mind is not right, sounds as if a bearing is failing?

Any input greatly appreiciated.

I have a ESS Twin Screw charger so really can't help... but someone on here certainly will.

Thanks for the linky, I have had just a quick look & noticed that the Arogant Asbjorn from ESS posts on there ,he has already proved himself to be an uninterested C*** sucker ! so I dont really want any more dealings with him!!!!!

Wow... never heard a bad word spoken about him before. They have been nothing but helpful to me.. in fact when I had a couple of small issues at the begining he flew over one of his pre sales technicians to resolve my issues. Cost them around £800 in flights and expenses. That was way over my expectations.

I'm impressed Ess went to those lengths to help, never really understood why they cannot be bothered with me, unless the likly hood of many more 8 series customers is rather low compared to the more mainstream e46's ?

You can get the V2 re-furbed by Vortech in the US and they'll tell you if there's a UK/European agent that can do it. Lots of references on Bimmer forums.

My V2-SQ (super quiet apparently) is, erm quiet, with just noise from the belt and the backlash on throttle up/down transition (but you have to be listening to it).

Never heard any adverse comments from or about Asbjorn from ESS either. Are you sure it's him and not someone online trolling as him?

Please keep me posted about progress as I'd probably like a re-furb on mine as it's 3 years old now.

I take it you bought the car previsouly in the West Country we were drooling over?

Stu cheers mate, just what i was hoping to read.

V2 SQ, hey It's almost as if they knew the previous model didn't cut it.

The 840 has been mine for 5 years now ,a few months back i did think of selling in order to buy a AMG 55, but it sold very quickly.

I'll do some searching around for a Sq model.
