thinking of selling my SE?
Discussion
Hi PH collective
Having had a look around at Griff prices at present they seem to be fairly stable, i am thinking of selling my SE but cant decide what price to pitch it at. There is one at 25k for sale at a dealers and that appears to be it, what do you reckon a 2001 with 36k miles is realistically worth?.
Any pointers would be appreciated, especially if you know of any others on the market that i could compare mine against.
cheers

It's big miles for an SE - well done you've used it. BUT this will be reflected in the price - should be low twenties anyway.

For a six year old car - only 6k per year. That's hardly enough to get the oil warm!OscarT
They have to be driven - mine was having problems with hesitation around the 3000rpm mark - the diagnosis was that I wasn't using it enough! Sure enough, upped the mileage to 6k per year, a little less reserve with the accelerator and it just got better and better.
Fair enough, if you are doing 12k a year then it is having a much harder life...
Mine cost £25.5k two years ago, I have since been offered £18k for it, but also one dealer offered what I paid for it. Mine is a 2001 with 32k on the clock.
When they do come up for sale at dealers they still seem to sticker the late ones at £25-27k, but that may be a bit optimistic.

Hi Sirtyro
I have not yet defo decided to sell but i am now starting to look into it, if that makes any sense!
I am selling thru lack of use, i have had it 13 months and i have only driven it 1200 miles, i have just sorned it for winter and the insurance runs out next month so all in all its a bit of a waste. Also the other half wont drive it as she says its a monster! and it frightens her to death.

I paid £20,300 for 38 in Jan. Private purchase. Mileage then was just under 30,000. I was told then that the trade price offered by a well-known Southern dealer was 18.5 and that they would retail it at 24.5.
Blue ones seem to be very popular which should offset what is relatively high miles for an SE. SEs seem to be a different market to even late model regular 500s although these are also being offered at what to be seem to be very high prices now.
If you really want to sell it, given the time of year I think you should put it up at 22.5 and look for 21 ish.

No the cars fine, scary but fine. The PH er who owned it previously, described driving it to me over the phone before i test drove and subsequently bought it from Henley Heritage as and i quote
"like riding a racehorse bareback at night blindfolded through a forest at speed"
and he was not joking. Ive had both a Chimera 450 and a Tuscan previously and they just dont compare for the sheer adrenaline rush, i guess its down to the remap/ACT carbon twin Plenum and bigger injectors. Cant say i have ever driven a 4.3 but i guess they must be comparable.

I like your description!
I guess I normally like jap cars and love the GT4 and the EVO, but want something with a bit more class. Had enough of little pricks in nova's and fiesta's and saxo's trying to have a go, when they dont even have a chance
So just looking for something different. I've always loved TVR's now I'm old enough and ugly enough to own one I just want to get as many opinions as possible

Strange, mine does no more than 3,000 miles a year and works perfectly. Far more reliable then my Jaguar in fact! They have to be driven - mine was having problems with hesitation around the 3000rpm mark - the diagnosis was that I wasn't using it enough!
