Wow I see there is a 1995 Griffith in the PH Classifieds with ONLY 200 miles - how do you have a car like that and only put 200 miles on it in twelve years - that's only 16 miles per year.

I think you'll find it is 200 miles on a rebuilt engine

Oh yeah - I've now read the ad in full - it's just somebody's rebuilt Griffith - different colour chassis - were they ever black? I thought the early ones were siver and the later ones were white. If you're going to rebuild a classic car it should be to original spec IMO.

It's a bit short on detail - overall mileage, original colour/trim/registration - I suppose it could be a rescued Cat C or D car.

Can't see it realising anything like that price when genuine SEs are only fetching low twenties at most.

A bit cheeky.

God Jigs, are you anal or what. Is your Griff completely original then - no upgrades, no mods, nothing? How far does the idea extend - Mobil 1 only, original spec brake pads, etc.
I'm curious.

Basically yes - only bits that can be easily replaced have been changed on my Griffith - brakes, induction, headlights, suspension, etc.

The point I'm making is that if you want a Griffith that demands big bucks and to appreciate in future as a classic you don't make fundamental changes IMO.

By all means customise your car to suit yourself BUT don't expect others to share your taste or pay for your fantasy.

I saw the ad and I can't make my mind up. Yes it's had a lot of work, seems more of a show car to be honest, but I can't get away from the fact that in 3 or 4 yrs time, after normal use, it's still just going to be a 95 Griff with Cerb seats.
If my memory serves me there was a rebuilt 94 Griff here a couple of weeks ago at £12750, no Cerb seats but thats virtually half the price.
As a footnote I've enquired about 4 Griffs lately and all have been described as 'uncomparable to other Griffs' Strangely enough all are still for salescratchchin

But so right in every other way - looks, bigger brakes, etc.

15"s can go back on in about fifteen minutes too - so totally and easily reversible.

Keeps my 15"s with as new ZR tyres in pristine condition as well.

What is "original"? You could spec them however you wanted, and I seriously doubt that any two left the factory "identical". Who's to say if a particular model is completely original, when the factory themselves took poetic licence with the spec of original cars?

And frankly, they pretty much all left the factory in need of some fettling an finishing. There are many widely accepted mods that improve the cars no end.

Original is 'as it left the factory'.

My point was that the 200 miles was unbelievable given the desirability of Griffiths as drivers' cars - it now looks like that mileage is misleading. This is just a Griffith that someone rebuilt to their own custom spec and not an 'as new' car as suggested by the ad heading.

There are scores of such rebuilt Griffiths out there so why should this one be special and command such a high price. It's a well maintained and serviceable Griffith - full stop - probably worth 15K or so.

For what it's worth, i.e nothing, I agree with Jigs on this one on the price
