from autosport

The FIA's International Court of Appeal has rejected McLaren's case over the fuel temperatures of the BMW and Williams cars in last month's Brazilian Grand Prix.

After a day of deliberation, having heard all sides yesterday in a London location, the ICA said the results of the Interlagos race will remain unchanged, confirming Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen as the 2007 world champion.

The governing body said in a statement the case was rejected because McLaren's appeal is inadmissable.

More details to follow shortly...

no surprise then !
inadmissable - oh of course - Bernie and herr flick said it was
really thought that the teams would of been docked points - but agreed that 2007 season should be put to bed and give the title to Kimi

Being a supporter of McLaren and Hamilton I still think this is the best result for the season that has gone.

It does pose one question now though, and that is:

what rules will be enforced in 2008 and what rules can be broken and left unpunished.

just Renualt to go now.

It would be nice to know when the rule book does apply and when it doesn't...

That of course would depend on which team you are talking about.

As I read it that is exactly what McLaren wanted to know.

So they now know.....no more than they knew before.

It is a very sad situation and in my mind the only people to come out of this year with heads held high are McLaren.

What a load of boocks. How can it be inadmissible when they have heard the case? That's always the biggest cop out of the lot.

Yes, they've tried the old fashioned trick of being faster and better but that doesn't wash with Max

Amazing how they can take two days deciding it was inadmissable when originally they only planned it to go on for a day! I assume its been deemed inadmissable because of the way the protest was lodged, in which case surely it only takes a couple of hours (minutes) to look through the procedure in the rules, look to see if the team lodging that protest followed those procedures or not, and dismiss it if it doesn't tally.

Bonkers.

Well, the result had an air of inevitability about it (Max & Bernie saw to that of course). I'm disappointed in the FIA that they couldn't find a better excuse for the outcome that the appeal was 'inadmissable' - their already shaky credibility has hardly been advanced through their handling of this issue.

Is 'inadmissable', without any explanation as to why, really the best they can come up with?

It's stating the obvious that there's much more going on here than clear review of the facts and evidence.

It is time for change at the FIA.

I can only asume they found in favour of excluding BMW and Williams and its drivers, and that result didnt wash, so they then had to then find the apeal inadmisable. I cant see how it could posibly take 2 days (never mind the weeks between Brazil and now) to come to a conclusion that the case shouldnt even be heard. It's a mad situation.

But surely 'inadmissable' means that the appeal itself has no validity, not that they merely agree with the original findings of the stewards.

I do agree with that but one wants one's favourite spectator sport to make sense!

At least the FIA is consistent.

I think that's the worry Martin Whitmarsh expressed a couple of days ago - that it might be thrown out because McLaren appealed the decision of the stewards, rather than appealing the result itself (or vice versa, or perhaps not even exactly that, but something along those lines).

If they've lost the appeal because of the way they appealed, rather than because the substance of the appeal wasn't valid, then it's not a very satisfactory result for anyone. frown

Hamilton and Maclaren certainly seem to bring out the worst in certain people.

Curious.
