My mum has taken up shotting rather late in life and is on the Yorkshire / NE Englands ladies something or other shooting thing (can you tell i didn't pay attention?).

Anyway, it's her 50th at the end of the month and i've been going through various ideas of what to get her. All the usuals etc seem to be a bit boring - but i'd quite like to get her on a proper organised shoot. She has her own gun and licence etc but she's never been out for grouse/pheasant etc.

Anyone got any idea how i could arrange this for her?

I give BACS (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) a call 01244-5730300 they should be able to put you in touch with a local shoot, you may be able to get your mum on a 'let' day. Most shoots welcome 'newbies' and may offer a free try. Good luck.

hi there,

If I were you, I would ask if she is up for shooting game as some people don't want to shoot living quarry, but if she's ok with that, then this place is worth a call.

it's about £300 for the day depending on what you shoot, which is quite a reasonable price for a let day.

otherwise, if she want's to do some sporting or game simulation clays, then worsley or kelbrook are 2 brilliant places for a day out, 100 bird driven clay will keep you on your toes.

hope that helps.

excellent, thanks very much for your help.

she's taken it up later in life but apparently has a pretty keen eye! she was learning from a Gentleman who coached the Englad Ladies Team or something? (i raelly should listen)

She's down in Leeds so that highfield one looks quite good

fully booked for this season unfortunately, but thanks for your help.

also, only really takes on parties of 8 at a time. Anyone got any ideas who could arrange a single shoot? or at least part of someone else's party?

Sorry to come back late on this topic, I've had a word with our 'Shoot Captain' and we could offer your mum a day on our small shoot outside Skipton. Not full driven days with big bags but a good shoot with frendly members.

I'am based in Bingley.

Several day between now and the end of the season (1st february) she welcome to join me and take my place if the day is full.

Ring me - IF INTERESTED

Cheers Tom
