Routing cable to the boot
Discussion
What's the easiest route for cable to the boot? I want to run a live from the battery to the boot to permanently fit the Accumate and wire up an amp to fit a small sub in the helmet hole (which will also require a signal cable running from the headunit).
Any advise on which pieces of trim are a bugger to get off without breaking would be most appreciated.
cheers

The obvious interior route is from the dash, along the centre console, under the helmet holder and through the rear bulkhead. I ran this route for my aerial amplifier/subwoofer wiring. I didn't have to lift the centre console though as my little hands were able to reach underneath and push the wire up.
The obvious external route is probably to run along the tunnel.
But why to the boot? Why not from the battery to the front of the car and mount the connector plug somewhere there? Then you've only got to run the wiring in the engine bay? Could it run through to the bottom/front of the rad and clip the plug to the rear of the numberplate out of the way? Just unclip the plug and plug in there? It's something I've considered making (winter project). My optimiser is mounted on the garage wall.

I'm liking the idea of running either side of the transmission tunnel (power one side, signal the other), especially if I can get away without pulling all the trim off.
What's the easy way through the front bulkhead?
David: To answer your question about why go to the boot -
a) I'm going there anyway for the amp
b) I need the Accumate attached to the car not the garage, because it frequently stays in my parent's garage (when I'm in London) or my sister-in-law's (which I using as a staging post for English trackdays)
c) Err...I'm sure there was a third reason...
Cheers for the tips

Hi Nef
There is a gromit just behind the battery on the bulkhead, you might have to dig this out with a screwdriver, slot the cable down and it should come out where the trim panel is in front of the door at the top, it a real bast*rd but will go, get someone to push through and just keep feeling for it. Once its through its real simple to run it down the centre panel and into the boot and the audio cable the other side (just push them up) should take bout an hour with a bit of swearing and grazed knuckles. Hope this helps

There is room to fit a small amp in the space above the passengers footwell. Not an ideal place I grant you, but it does save running power cables under the tunnel. It can be done, I found one in mine when I was looking for the ECU.
If you run wires down the tunnel, run them together not on separate sides, that's how electrical noise will creep in to your amps power supply. Also, make sure you fit a suitable fuse in the positive lead as close to the battery as possible.

You don't need to do this - the fusebox in the boot has a 25 square cable (at least) direct from the battery - pull it out and you'll see.
Connect the power for your amp and the Accumate connection there. Via appropriate fuses of course.
I've got a solar panel charger in the rear window, connected to the fusebox, it keeps the battery topped up lovely!
Andy.
