Hi guys,

I'm not quite sure whether I'm posting this in the right place but I've got a bit of a problem that I hope you might be able to help me with.

I own a TVR Chimaera 450 and it's absolutly brilliant, however I've got one slight issue; the key fob (s). My wife is rather im-patient and has managed to damage both of these causing the the key fobs to stop working, by pushing the buttons to violently. Do you know where I could get hold of another set or just a new casing? I really am at a lost end as I can't really drive her until this issue is sorted...

I hope someone out there can help or recomend me someone to get in contact with. Thanks in advance, Mike.

Wot he said!
AFAIK you have to know the 'channel' that each key is 'aligned' to. I found mine in the owners handbookk pockets (red plastic cards). Carl will then send you new 'zappers' and once you receive them, he will talk you through the procedure over the 'phone....so that the zapper and alarm 'talk' to one another.

Mike,
The bad news is if you have no working key fob you are basically stuffed.
To program in a new key fob you need a fully working fob to put the alarm system into a mode to accept
any new fobs.
Unless you can get one of the fobs to work again, you need to remove the alarm module from under the dash on the passenger side and send it to Carl Baker who will then reprogram your alarm module and supply 2 new fobs.
Have you checked that the batteries are ok in the fobs before you go any further.
Hope this helps.
Paul.

Thanks for the reply guys, you see we have one key fob that works now (only just) so what we'll try and do is speak to Carl Baker and see if we can get some new ones and programme those to match the cars. Really appreciate the help and advice you guys have passed on and I won't hesitate in popping back on if I have any other issues.

Many thanks again, Mike

Phone Carl NOW, if you have not already done so, if you need this sorting urgently.

I was at Carls on Thursday getting new keys fobs and immobiliser and he goes away any day now on holiday for 4 weeks.

If it is just the button that is broken, you may be able to get replacement cases quite cheaply without needing to buy new fobs.

I only had 1 fob when i bought the car so thats why i got 2 new fobs programmed.

I have the same problem, how much was it to get 2 new fobs plus programming them?

About £100-150 I think. I used Carl to sort my Cerb out (only had one old-style fob and one immobiliser key when I got it) and would highly recommend him. He lives near some nice driving roads too biggrin

Carl went away on Saturday (or SUnday at the latest) - he's in Oz so can't really pop back.
Afraid you're going to have to wait.
If you take the unit out the plastic fob you should be able to operate it but just be careful.

My fobs are fine but the imobaliser by pass thingy (you know the black oblong thing) doesn't seem to do anything. Can anyone explain how they are supposed to work?

What he said biggrin

Think it was £125 + VAT. I drove 100 miles each way to go down to him as never heard anyone recommend anyone else! - Would highly recommend too and as said, some really nice driving roads down there!

As it turns out, the receptionist at work is off next week to stay on the same island as him in great barrier reef! - Small world, told her to say hi!

I thought there was a problem with my bypass keys but I have found that they work if I hold the key in for a good couple of seconds. Don't know if it's supposed to work like this or not.
