Diablo vs Gallardo
Discussion
Hi guys
I was wanting to know if anyone could tell me whether an early Diablo would be quicker than a Gallardo, or a Gallardo would be quicker than a Diablo?
I recon that the Gallardo would be quicker from 0 -60, and round corners thanks to its sophisticated 4wd system compared to the 2wd of the Diablo. However when getting to high speeds I recon the Diablo would start to catch the Gallardo and have a higher top speed.
These are just my thoughts, and was wondering what other peoples opinions were on the subject, or has any one had both and could give me a comparison?
Cheers
Aaron

Having owned both early/late Gallardo and Diablo, an early Diablo would be blitzed by any Gallardo and a late Diablo would be evenly matched with a G.
Compare any Diablo with a Superleggera and it'd be wiped out . Ofcourse straight out speed isn't everything, and the Diablo wins in term of presence every time.

I heard a rumour Aaron that earlier in the year there were a couple of gallardos & a couple of diablos on a test track and all were pretty much evenly matched down the straights up to 150+
But we weren't allowed to find out about cornering speeds
Diablos... corners...
But we weren't allowed to find out about cornering speeds

In a straight line you've 500bhp AWD and around 1430kgs vs anywhere between 400 and 600 RWD bhp (depending on the model of Diablo and how healthy the engine is) weighing in at ~1400kgs. It would be close.
Cheers for all the responses guys, very interesting to hear your views.
Wish I could have seen the trackday it would have been very interesting to watch and hear the Diablo and Gallardo battle it out a track.
Thanks for the information Jonny5, I completely agree with you there aren’t many cars that even come close to having as much presence or look as dramatic as the Diablo, it's in a league of its own.

Try poping the cork out of your backside. I will put it on the track and show you if you like. you obvously know every thing about everything? As blot said he was watching the exhaust!!!!!!!!
Hang on! I said that he got the weight wrong. I didn't make any comment of which would be best around the track. I've been on trackdays with Tony666's VT and it's not too shabby for a big car.The cork's all yours now mate.

Seriously though. Are we going to sort a track day out soon or what Blot, the aston is back soon and I have never been on a track day as yet. I can put a tow bar on the diablo to tow the other one up. Anybody else up for it !!!!!!
Could well be tempted out, currently busy shopping for a new track/sprint car after selling the mobile barbecue. Spyder is under threat too if a car I've got my eye on comes up for sale. Either way, date and venue and I'll be interested, but I'm guessing it will have to be a dedicated noisy session as the g is way over 98db over 4k revs, which will severely limit choices. Would prefer to avoid an airfield unless it is tarmac, Elvington for instance eats tyres and pebble dashes paintwork
